Technical Director

About:
We are seeking an experienced Technical Director to lead the development of TODAY. The candidate will have a strong background in game development, particularly in engineering roles, demonstrating leadership. As the Technical Director, you will lead a team of talented engineers, from diverse technical backgrounds, and will be responsible for all technical aspects of the game, ensuring that the vision is realized with the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
Lead and manage the technical team, including developers, engineers, and IT specialists.
Mentor and provide guidance to team members to foster professional growth and technical excellence.
Coordinate with other departments (art, design, production) to ensure seamless integration of all game components.
Technical Vision and Strategy:
Define and implement the technical vision and strategy for "Today," aligning with the overall game design and company goals.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in game development, AI, and blockchain technology to keep the game at the cutting edge.
Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance game development and performance.
Game Development:
Oversee the development of advanced AI systems that power the NPCs, ensuring they exhibit lifelike behaviours and interactions.
Ensure the seamless integration of blockchain technology for asset ownership, trading, and other game mechanics.
Manage the procedural generation system to create unique and engaging island environments for players.
Quality Assurance:
Establish and maintain coding standards, best practices, and performance benchmarks to ensure high-quality game development.
Implement robust testing and debugging processes to identify and resolve technical issues promptly.
Collaborate with the QA team to ensure the game meets all quality and performance standards.
Project Management:
Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure timely delivery of game milestones.
Coordinate with the production team to manage the technical aspects of the game development lifecycle.
Prepare and present technical reports and updates to senior management and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in game development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or technical director role.
Proven experience with AI integration in games, including developing lifelike NPC behaviours and interactions.
Strong understanding of blockchain technology and its application in gaming, particularly for asset ownership and trading.
Proficiency in game development tools and engines, especially Unreal Engine 5.
Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Passion for gaming and a deep understanding of the gaming industry and current trends.
Nice to have:
Experience with VR development and integration.
Knowledge of decentralized finance (DeFi) and its potential applications in gaming.
Familiarity with procedural generation techniques and tools.
Prior experience working on social simulation or community-building games
